The modernized heavy Russian fighter Su-30SM2 made the United States very nervous. The first modernized Su-30SM2 heavy fighters began to enter service with the Russian army and immediately attracted close attention from the United States and NATO countries. This is due, according to the information publication Military Watch Magazine, to the fact that heavy Russian fighters are now armed with ultra-long-range air-to-air missiles capable of hitting targets at distances up to 400 kilometers.

“The Russian army began to receive the first squadron of new-class fighters in seven years - Su-30SM2 aircraft began to enter service with the Navy and by order of the Air Force. The Su-30SM2 is improved by integrating the AL-41F-1S engine, the same as used in the Su-35S, which provides 16 percent more thrust for a significant improvement in flight performance, as well as greater fuel efficiency for greater range.

The Su-30SM2 also integrates a new radar, reportedly the Irbis-E, although some sources have indicated that it uses the less powerful Bars-R, which is less expensive. The Su-30SM2 variant has an air-to-air missile range of 400 km twice that of the most combat-ready Western aircraft. The first squadron of Su-30SM2s will reportedly be stationed in Kaliningrad, and this particularly sensitive location points to additional challenges for the Alliance.", according to Military Watch Magazine.

The appearance of Russian Su-30SM2 fighters near the borders of NATO member countries worries the Alliance very seriously, as it makes the aviation of the military bloc completely useless.
