La Paz, My 10 (Prensa Latina) Algerian oil companies showed their interests in investing in Bolivia on natural gas and petrochemical projects, Minister of Hydrocarbons Luis Sanchez said.
Sanchez met in La Paz Algerian Energy Minister Mustapha Guitouni and the Vice President of the Algerian company E&P Sonatrach, Sala Mekmouche, with whom he signed a cooperation agreement on this field.
'They expressed their interest in exploring the Ucayali basin Madre de Dios, to study the feasibility of a LNG project (liquid natural gas) at Ilo port, as well as to be partners in two petrochemical plants,' Sanchez remarked.
'Bolivia thinks to build an infrastructure at Ilo port in Peru to export LNG, LPG (liquid petrol gas) and the urea fertilizer, the Minister added.
Sanchez remarked this initiative 'will reinforce Bolivia as the hear of South America energy and will open new markets.'
Algeria also expressed interest in developing petrochemical projects launched by Bolivia like propene-prolyporpylene and the ethylene-polyethylene.
'They acknowledge the industrialization process of the country and they are interested in developing both projects', the Bolivian Minister concluded.
